On January 12, 2010 a massive earthquake occured in Haiti and was the worst in the region within 200 years. This caused 50,000 deaths and 3 million people, about a third of Haitis population, were affected by the earthquake. Haiti is one of the least developed countries in the world and has struggled with problems from health crises to a barrage of hurricanes in recent years.
