The Colonization of Brazil

According to the site I was reading, the Portuguese first discovered what is now Brazil and when first landed them and the natives both showed each other signs of peace. The explorers who sailed to that land stayed at the anchorage they called Porto Seguro. The Native's were very interested with what the Portuguese brought with them, such as their religion, they predicted the people would convert to Christianity. After many years of contact and trade, it is said the the cultural exchange is what evolved the natives into today's Brazilian culture.
