Earthquake in Haiti

The earthquake in Haiti originated only 16 km from the capital, Port au Prince. This category 7 quake caused many deaths and when all deaths are counted the death toll is expected to be in the hundreds or above. When the earthquake started the whole area was plunged into total chaos. Everything shook, and buildings collapsed. Those who survived the quake are mostly living in the streets hoping that soon they will receive food and water.
Besides all this devastation, many buildings in the capital, such as the presidential palace, were also severely damaged, limiting what the Haitian government can do. Roads were also wiped out and there was widespread damage. Outside of Haiti, a tsunami warning was put out, and later canceled, although there was a small one. As well, some shock were felt on nearby Cuba, but no real damage was sustained.
