Colonization of Brazil
Under the control of Pedro Alvares Cabral, a fleet of men came off the ship onto the beach on the Bahian Coast. According to Pero Vaz de Caminha 20 or more dark skinned men lined up on the beach to greet the men by laying their bows and arrows down as a sign of peace. They also brought along feathered headresses and a long string of white seeded pearls. This way eventually worked its way into Brazilian culture after 5 centuries. Catholic mass, iron tools, and the alcoholic drinks that were brought by the Portugeese interested the natives of the land. Caminha noticed how interested they were in this and knew it would be easy to convert them into Christians. The were using the natives to gather supplies that they would need to secretly take over the land and they would do intermarriage so they would have another generation of their own kind still living there. Eventually Portugal, the African Coast, and India got into this and started to reshape Brazil. After years of fighting with them and other European countries, Brazil ended up with a Portugeese King named Tome de Sousa.
