New France was the area being colonized by the French in North America, consisting of five main provinces. It became a province of France in 1663, but troops didn't arrive until around 1665, therefore making the Native Americans less of a threat to revolt against them. They wanted to keep their colonies on a balanced economic structure, however because of wars the government could not provide the finances for the colonies and ultimately the economy failed.
However, in the beginning, they had solid systems set up for running the colonies. Land grants were made, which were given to farmers to provide agriculture and the French population grew. Later though, the population declined because the government failed to provide more land grants and additional resources like earlier. However, even though the French's population was declining, many were still inclined to come to the area because of the prospering fur trade.
