Control the Animals
I find it very disturbing that the Portuguese and Spanish leaders that colonized Brazil were so narrow minded. They found everything that the natives did animalistic. They treated the natives as if they were animals that need to be controlled and taken care of. The colonists tried to force a religion and way of life upon the natives and those that rejected the new culture where punished. It is as if the natives were punished and even killed simply because of their unique culture. It is very unfortunate that the natives, who had their own lives and culture, were treated as animals that needed to be trained with an iron fist.

I completely agree. It's kind of funny that when a lot of cultures look at another culture, they think they are one way and that culture could be looking at those people the same way. The native Brazilians might think the Portugues and Spanish leaders are animalistic! With the way they were fighting and bickering, I would think they're pretty animalistic. And anyway, the natives were acting the way they were for centuries until the newcomers came. They would have been still the same way had not people invaded and insisted on possessing land. I just don't understand why there is a need to do that anyway.
