The article that I chose states that many Hispanics, after coming to the US, drop their religion. In Hispanic culture, going to mass every Sunday is very important. This article shows that new immigrants, who were mostly likely Roman Catholic at one point, start to take up the American idea of having "no religion" and living a secular lifestyle. This usually happens because in America there isn't an unspoken rule that demands religion and Hispanic immigrants, who are usually working class, take advantage of this and use their Sunday mornings in other ways.
I was drawn to this article because religion is very important to me and I was intrigued at how moving to a different country can affect a person's faith. Also, this situation shows that there is an American culture, which is reassuring to previous class discussions. I am not sure that there is any way to solve this problem or if it is a problem at all. These people are getting what they are rightful to have in America, Freedom of Religion, and I don't see anything wrong with that.
