Eradicating World Poverty - Debate Response
In my personal opinion, it is possible to eradicate extreme world poverty and eliminate extremely impoverished people from the world. This would be through education and funding, but also through self-sufficient work of those people who are impoverished. Given the fact that, as a part of human nature, there will always be some sort of class system that separates the lower class from the upper class, it must be considered that just because the people in the lower class are not as rich as those in the upper class, this does not necessarily make them "impoverished". A lower class can exist without it consisting of impoverished people. Also, organizations such as the MDG and UNICEF are working to eradicate world poverty, and being completely realistic, I think that one day they will achieve their goal of elimination. I am aware of the fact that this process would be extremely gradual, and would in no way happen overnight, but it is possible in the long run. Poverty acts as an umbrella, involving many different issues, but working slowly and one by one to eliminate those issues is the strategy that will break down extreme poverty as a whole. The process of elimination cannot be viewed as the rich giving money to the poor. It is well known among humans that higher class people would not be comfortable giving away their money to those who occupy the lower class, which is why that I would not suggest that this would be the approach to be taken in order to eliminate extreme poverty. However, there is no reason why the poor people in the world, with the right education and opportunity, cannot improve their own situation. They can break themselves out of poverty, and this will ultimately eliminate the problem.
