Article Response

I was aware of the fact that poverty is an issue throughout the world before I read this article, but when reading it, I became aware as to some of the reasons why poverty stricken areas still exist across our globe. It upset me to think about the consumers in the United States, and how much money our country spends every single day, on things that are not considered necessities, compared to the amount of change these dollar bills could make in poverty-stricken places described in this article. Within our country, it is not any one individual's fault that money is wasted on luxury products and items, due to the fact that every American is raised within our society to be a consumer. However, I liked this article because not only did it describe to me the need for money around the world, which I was already somewhat aware of, but also showed me the change that can come with just one person's efforts. If several American citizens came together, we could make a very large change for poverty-stricken people all over the world.

  1. I really liked your post Nicole! I completely agree with everything you wrote. It is so confusing to me that we consume so much for things that we do not need when that money can be used for other people's needs. I really hope that in the near future there are major improvements in this issue that can be solved! I also liked in the article that they made us aware of what we can do to help! Great response!

  2. I agree that this article was interesting. I didn't realize how much money was actually needed around the world. The fact that so much money goes to unnecessary items, while in other countries that same amount of money could pay for many of the things needed.
