Response to The mission
When we were watching as the people of the village were being massacred and killed it didn't seem fair. The people were happy and being forced to move off of the property, they shot innocent children and families. Almost everybody dies in the end and it shocked me, but that was the reality in colonial times. They had advanced artillery against their bows and arrows, they were also clearly outnumbered. They felt going back into the jungle was a curse or misfortune. The few white men became bonded with the village and even fought against their own people, they died with the natives defending there new land and culture. They also brought a new religion upon the natives and taught them to sing and pray. The ending was slightly shocking because of how gruesome and cruel it was be then expected because of the time and circumstances in this film.
