Response to The Mission

I thought the movie overall was very good even though we just have a few minutes left of the movie to watch. I thought it was interesting that the movie showed how the missionaries were colonizing the Native Americans, and how at first the Natives were weary of the missionaries, but later trusted them and became followers of the religion.It was sad how the Portuguese were planning to shut down the missions and make the Natives slaves. It was also really sad how the Portuguese attacked the mission and killed the priests and almost everybody else, and how the one priest stood his ground and didn't attack the Portuguese. Also the movie showed how that one person could reform and in a way repent for the bad things he did by giving up being a mercenary to becoming a priest and instead of capturing natives, befriending and respecting them.
