The Mission

The Mission was an interesting outlook on the spanish conquest of South America. It was intersting to hear it from a missionaries point of view. In history books the point of view is always a third person, and most people do not know the personal stories of the middleman, which is the person who is trying to keep the peace between the two oppisite parties. I liked the ending because it showed the reality of the situation; that the Europeans will do anything, even slaughter innocent men to get what they want. The ending made a powerful impression because I felt bad that everything the priests had built, to teach the natives a god, was destroyed over the feel of 'need' of land by the Portugese. The movie was filled with a lot of strangely realistic emotion from all three parties, which is why this movie made me watch, and not just dissmiss as another History movie.
