Question Number Four

Basically, the British were saying that investing time into building a canal was a huge waste of time. There were alot of things said to support this. The British really tried to put it off as a real bad idea and they published alot of points in the newspapers and what not. By the things they were saying they made it seem like they did not like the canal idea at all. They did this because they did not want other people to get at it. One interesting point they said was that it was just impossible for a canal to be built. The reason for this is because supposedly there was a difference in heights between the two sides. So, if a canal was to be attempted what would really be created is some type of waterfall. Well, the British ended up with the Canal to themselves and they got alot of profit out of it. -lucky them.
