Fall of the Berlin Wall
In 1989, the fall of the Berlin wall ended the cold war that effected politics. The Berlin wall symbolically and physically separated the world into two parts. By having the wall separate the world, it couldn't allow world trade, and it rejected the idea of the world ever being 'flat'. Once it was torn down, it showed that the world was connected, the cold war was over, and world trade, boomed. The concept of globalization couldn't have been possible with the wall, because the countries couldn't form alliances or business deals. All in all, we should be thankful that the wall was torn down

I think that the fall of the Berlin wall has many things behind it than just the physical fall of the wall. It is interesting that there was the inderect meaning of separation between East and West Berlin. Also the fact that the ending of the Cold War triggered this "boom" in world trade, and ulimatley globalization.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. The fall of the Berlin wall was also breaking a symbolic boundary. It's interesting because it was one country divided into two parts by a wall. When the wall fell globalization was set into effect even more than it had been before.
