Wide Angle Movie
I loved the Wide Angle Movie. As I mentioned in class, it made me realize how grateful I am to have certain things, big or small. A lot of people (and especially targeted toward the females) in our school don't exactly realize that they are so blessed to have the opportunity to go to a clean school during the daytime. We don't have to worry about bombs flying next to us or grenades raining down on us as we're walking, catching the bus, or being driven to school. Shugafa (I'm sure I spelled it wrong) has to deal with that. It also makes me grateful that if my age isn't that much of a big deal, I can skip a grade and not have to worry about being held back because the system "doesn't feel I'm ready to be around older, mature kids" like Jefferson. Wide Angle should be presented to everyone because it's not just about seeing how amazing other cultures are, but just how to learn to be grateful.

I totally agree with you that it makes you have feel so fortunate to have an amazing education provide, a nice house with no extreme factors of violence or discrimination, and a family who wants you to be successful in everything you do. I take for granted little things like having access to a computer and resources like that. I have to diagree that females in our school don't realize how blessed we are. I certainly realize I am very lucky for an education free of discrimination and violence and I know other girls that are my friends who feel the same way. Overall, I think this movie has widened everybodies perspective on the value of education and where we live.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Shanelle. i also really liked the movie. It also made me realize how lucky we are to be able to go to school and not worry about violence or frequent terrorist attacks. I sort of agree and disagree with the idea that people don't know how blessed they are to be able to go to school (especially females). I think that some people realize it more than others, and if people in our history class's didn't before, now they should appreciate and realize it even more.
ReplyDeleteI agree, womens rights is a problem especially in developing nations. Here, we(girls) don't face discrimination like girls in India and Afghanistan. Sometimes I think seeing a film like this really makes me appreciate all that I have because these girls don't have much at all and have to get married young so education is hard to finish. I think the movie widened my perspective about how education and womens rights are totally different around the world.
