PBS Video
I thought it was an interesting video because even though we only saw a couple of the kids featured in the video so far, it really gave you perspective on how different and important education is around the world. For many kids, like the ones in the video, education and going to school are privileges that not all of them have. Here in the US, most kids go to school or receive some form of education, and it's hard not to take that for granted. For example, while girls here are allowed to receive education, the girl from Afghanistan is considered lucky that she goes to school because the Taliban is trying to stop women from receiving education. The kids in the video also have other obstacles to overcome, such as balancing their chores and daily life with their schoolwork, and even going to school at strange times of day, like night school. The girl from India had to work all day and then go to school at night. It must be hard to balance everything like that. So the video really shows you how different circumstances are around the world.
