Turkey's Contsitution

John Locke believed that all people are created equal. He believes all people can do the same things and also learn from their mistakes. Some of Turkey's constitution is based on some of his work from the Enlightenment. In General Principles X of the Turkish Constitution it says, "Equality before the law." Also in Fundamental Rights and Duties Chapter Two XII it says, "Property Rights". This clearly from Locke's famous quote of "Life, Liberty, and Property."

  1. Great article. Reading what you posted about the turkish government does show me the similarites between what John Locke said for its citizens in his famous quote.

  3. Great blog Tevin. You were right. Swaziland and Turkey are similar in the fact that both of their constitutions cover the human right of equality. What type of government is Turkey?

  4. This is really good, because I have never looked at Turkey's government and know nothing about it. It seems like it is somewhat similar to the United States in the rights it offers it's citizens. What type of government do they have there?

  5. This is a really good article and it clearly shows the relationship between John Locke and parts of their constitution. I thought Turkey was not a country that gave their citizens rights like religious freedom though? I thought it was some sort of totalitarian government.

  6. It was very interesting to see the tipe of government turkey has. You don't hear much about it in recent news because the media primarily focus on countries like Iran and Afghanistan. Good article.
