Poverty, Development and Cultural Solidarity

This is an interesting article about the impact of development on indigenous communities in Brazil. The debate between sustainable and economic development is at the heart of this situation, but the trade off is cultural solidarity (and survival) for indigenous populations. Read this if you have a moment and post a comment. What do you think? Should the dam be built? Is it a hydro-electric dam? If it is to provide electricity, who will receive this service/utility? Will it be the indigenous people who are dislocated / affected by construction? Many sides to this, so please share your thoughts- Mr. Stetina
