Johannes Kepler
Like Copernicus Kepler believed the heliocentric theory of the universe that the sun was at the center of the universe, instead of the Earth. Kepler, a devout Catholic like Copernicus, shared Copernicus'belief that the sun represented the spiritual essence and presence of God. Although he shared some of Copernicus' beliefs, he believed that the planets orbited around the sun in elliptical paths rather than a circular paths. By revising Copernicus' model and using Brahe's calculations, he made a perfect mathematical model of the universe. He published this in his book New Astronamy. This book caused a sensation and inspired Galileo Galilei to put his new founding into the Keplerian universe.

I think that it was really interesting that Kepler believed that the sun was god, or held the presence of god. He also put the sun at the center of the universe, like Copernicus. This was later proven to be true and was a big advancement, so it's good he thought that way. I think that it was neat for Kepler to "think outside the box" and not go with what everyone else was saying about circular orbits. He thought that the orbits were elliptical. He also made a perfect mathematical model of the universe. I am very impressed that he did this. This probably took a lot of time and knowledge and my brain hurts just thinking about it. It's good that he studied the things he did because he influence Galileo. I did not hear his name before the packet, though, even though it sounds like he was a very important person.
