Linnaeus and Buffon

Two thinkers at the time of the scientific revolution were Carolus Linnaeus and George Buffon. they made great strides in sorting out and creating a system of biology. People were very aware of living things at this time, more and more scientists looking into what makes animals tick. Carolus was a botanist, but created the first idea of the classificatoin system. This broadened our ideas of the animal world, showing the relations between similar animals. George Buffon takes part in this because he worked on Linnaeus's system, by trying to explain the relationships between the animals, and making the system more exact.
Their work created a thought that was almost forbidden at their time, evolution. Although they were Christians, and didnt think of the fact of evolution, they touched apon the fact that animals had similar traits and did relate to one another. Buffon was careful about what he revealed from his discoveries, only giving ideas of all animals coming from just one species. This was because it went against the church, and it was an even more controversial topic than the universe. The scientific revolution is still here with the issue of evolution, many people agreeing or disagreeing with the ideas.
