Copernicus and His Contributions

Copernicus paved the way for other scientists to put out new theories and question traditional geocentric thought. He did this by writing a book proposing his radical ideas. These included; 1) The Earth oribited around the sun once yearly and 2) that the Earth spun on its axis once daily. These ideas completely went against what the church because he was ultimately saying that the Earth was not the center of the universe. This went against the bible. He was the first to propose this idea of heliocentric thought. After he died, other scientists such as Galileo started embrace his theories and look more in depth for this idea of heliocentricity.

  1. I am so impressed with what Copernicus has done. Along with Galileo, he has figured out so much for his time and with the amount of resources that he had. I admire the fact that he challenged what everyone else thought was correct, and then tested those things. With that, he ended up changing the way that everyone thought of the universe. Without him, we may not be as experienced and knowledgeable as we are today about the universe around us.
