John Locke

John Locke's influence on the Enlightenment included government, philosophy, politics, psychology, and religion. He was interested in how we know things but did not believe in hereditary intuition or ideas. He believed that all ideas came from experience, which he called empiricism. His essay concerning human understanding showed that all human knowledge is based on reflection and experience.
