Voltaire
Voltaire was the name Francois Marie Arouet went by in signing his books. He mainly focused on empiricism and religious tolerance on two philosohipcal projects. Voltaire believed that for every brutal crime, there was some sort of religious zealotry. He made a note of the Christian on Christian crime. Voltaire as a philosopher didn't have good faith that humans could improve themselves and their enviornment. He made that clear in his famous book 'Candide' in 1759 which basically made fun of humans and their flaws. His messages and morals may, however, be what proves his points.
