Mary Wollstonecraft

Mary Wollstonecraft was an advocate for equal rights for women around the time of the Enlightenment. In 1792 she published Vindication on the Rights of Women, which was all about why women should have equal rights. It was also later used during the later women's rights movement. Mary Wollstonecraft, in this and other works, talked about how ridiculous it was to view women as weak, helpless, parts of a household. She also argued that keeping women all but locked up was causing them to take frustration out on other members of the household like children and servants. She believed that the only way to use all that women had to offer was to educate them and treat them as equals.
