Jean-Jacques Rousseau

He was born on June 28, 1712 in Geneva, Switzerland. He was orphaned at age 10 after his mother passed and his father fled Geneva to escape inprisonment. Jean was then left to the care of his aunt and uncle. He left Geneva at age 16 and preformed many odd jobs to sustain himself. Rousseaus philosophy was a huge part of the Enlightenment movement. He argued about societys impact on man, and how it demoralizes the people. He stated that the advancement on arts and sciences did just the oppisite to the well being of mankind. He also argued socailist and communist ideas, especially about the possession of private property.
