Are Dictatorships ever good?

Since so many people were wondering if there was a such thing as a good dictatorship, I decided to find some information on the subject. I found information from The Observer. According to the opinion of many people, good dictatorships are rare, but possible. For example, a man named Ed Husain lived in a Syrian dictatorship for two years. In his opinion, the Syrian government under a dictator delivered well. According to Husain, "Dictatorship is a necessary prelude to democracy. Liberal democracies don't come about overnight." Other "good dictatorships" mentioned in the article were historical Rome, Pakistan etc. (click the link above for more info)
