Charles Montesquieu was born on January 19, 1689. He is a french philosopher that came up with many of the base of our governments ideas. He is also a publicist and a writer that usually expressed his ideas through satire and liberal ideas. Some of his famous ideas is the separation of state and the three branches of our government; executive, legislative, and judicial. These ideas influenced many of our founding fathers and James Madison. He created a composition called "The Spirit of the Laws" which included the theory that the geography of the land affects the climate. He also used the terms "Feudalism" and "Byzantine Empire" making the terms very common. Montesquieu was a great philosopher of the enlightenment era and helped us gain ideas for our country, America.
