Why we buy goods from other countries, and why do countries outsource?
We buy goods from other countries for many reasons. But the main reason is cheaper prices. Nowadays Americans are bargain hunters and are looking for the cheapest thing that is useful. This is because of the recession and awful economy that has taken a toll on many people. Some goods might be more influenced by the country they are made in. Like people would buy cheese from France because they are skilled in making or it, it is the same with why people buy chocolate from Swiss companies. Lastly, other people are oblivious to the fact that there is still goods made in the United States. Like Whole Foods and Trader Joe's try to sell food made in the USA. The food is not processed and healthier to eat. Now this brings me to why companies outsource or off shore their companies out of America. Well its plainly cheaper. Clothing stores have outsourced to pay people for less money and work long hours to create tons and tons of clothes. American Apparel is a clothing companies that has not outsourced and is against it. It advertises itself as sweatshop free. But because they do this their clothing is very very expensive. So the reason why companies outsource and move to different countries is to save money and make more money.
