Why do people buy products/services/goods from other countries? Why not just make them locally?

I think people do this for a couple reasons. One being that if they buy it from some other area it may be cheaper, because it might be easier to get in that area. Another reason is it might be more convienient, lets say you want to grow a crop that doesnt grow in your area it might be more efficient to buy it from somewhere else then find a way to grow it in your region. Also it might be rare in your area thus making it expensive so you would want to buy it from another area where it could be very abundant.
