The development of crop rotation. Jethro Tull's inventions of the mechanical drill for planting and the house drawn hoe. The creation of John Kay's mechanism for use in weaving cloth. Michael Faraday's unveiling of the first electric motor and generator. The change in how people viewed the household and family life. Each of these occurences happened during the time historians call "The Industrial Revolution". If these occurences happened one by one at different points in history, they would have just been historic occurences. But, they had an even greater impact because they happened in the same era--an era of industrialization and urbanization...
The Industrial Revolution arguably officially began in England when people such as Arkwright created mills to aid the production of cotton textile goods in the mid-late 1700s. This led to the creation of factories leading to the demand for more goods leading to the need of transportation leading to complete change in human culture (in my opinion). How did human culture completely change? Well, for one, globalization happened. People were really beginning to connect with other people and the world was becoming "flatter" than ever before. They realized that some areas of the world had things that they needed and wanted and they had things that those areas wanted, as well.
This realization lead to some good things and some bad things. People were being abused and overworked in factories, and lower and middle (working) class were suffering a lot. Family life was given a new meaning, and people no longer valued the household the same way they did before. Materialism was popularized. And the world was changed forever.
