Why we purchase things from other countries

The main reason that I think that people buy things from other countries is: no one place can have all of the resources that it needs to survive comfortably. One country may have more corn and another might have more water. Different countries have different talents and resources, so why not share them? Buying and Selling to and from places around the world provides you with what you need, and you gain profits from it.
