Child Labour in Cotton Factories
This primary source is a conversation between Robert Southey and a gentleman from Manchester. This article drew my attention, because it was something that really shocks me. I understand that children are hardworking and generally very cheap, but this is their lives. They were spend over 12 hours a day in a factory that did not let them eat, drink or go to the bathroom. These are the ages when a child starts to become who they are going to be, and them working very hard with no water and no food in a hot factory for their whole day can cause major damages to their health in the long run, as well as short term health issues. This article was very interesting to read. It is an eye opener to see how children much younger than me had to work everyday all day of their lives.
