The Cuban Revolution
The Cuban revolution began in 1952 when Baptista overthrew the current president and ended all elections. In an attempt to overthrow Baptista, Fidel Castro was arrested and forced to serve long jail time. As a spectacle of his great power, Baptista released Castro before his sentence was finished. This did not stop castro and he eventually used gurilla tactics to finally defeat the brittish army and force them to flee Cuba.

Eric,
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I was wondering, on some of the other websites it says that the Cuban Revolution started in 1959, but yours says that it started in 1952. Why is that?
That is because that is when the groundwork for the revolution took place. In 1952 things started to fall into place for the revolution eventhough it didn't officially happen yet.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like it was a mistake to Batista to release Castro from jail early because that essantially was what Castro needed to overthrow him. Could you say that Batista did this to himself?
