Australia's Constitutional Monarchy

Australia's government became a Constitutional Monarchy directly following their independence on January 1, 1901. Their main ruler's power is now limited by their elected Prime Minister and other elected officials. This is what makes their Monarchy Constitutional.

  3. Great questions guys!
Australia right now is ruled over by it's Queen, Elizabeth the Second, who has been in power since 1952. The real power is held with it's prime minister. He is actually elected by Parliament. The royal line is obviously hereditary. The people vote to decide who becomes a member of Parliament, and Parliament decides who becomes Prime Minister.

  4. Great job Nicole,
you clearly show thee difference between a absolute and constitutional monarchy. My question why do you think the country chose constitutional monarchy over any other government?
