UNESCO's report
I have always known that education isn't easy access for everyone around the world. However, I never looked at the BIG PICTURE of why education is key in this world. Getting into biology here (chapter 18), education can kind of be looked at that gene in the allele pool that gives one a high fitness (not even talking about enviornmental influences). Education is what gives everyone that ablilty to live and prosper greater than those who don't have little to no education. Getting back to the main point, I realized as I was reading, "Wow, this would be a great idea to try...maybe this could be fixed in this country....maybe this could be added to this contry...hey wait, that's going to take a long time..." There isn't just one problem when dealing with the situations brought up in this report. There are so many problems underneath, it makes it seem silly to say that by 2015, this will happen or 20- - something else will occur. Things like this take time, money, paitence, and cooperation. Really think about it, one can fix a country's problem without an understanding of history, actions and reactions, cultural norms, the people, heritage...everything. The problem isn't just education (but plays a HUGE role in the country's situation), is my point. This report has really opened my eyes to gaining a better knowledge of how education, poverty, and gender clash together in a mess.
