Reaching the Marginalized
I always knew that education was important and that a lot of people around the world don't receive it, but never once did I consider all of the reasons why. I thought that only money held people back from getting a quality education. This article shows that race, gender, and language can also be a hindrance. What is sad is that the people that don't receive an education don't have a way out of their extreme poverty and other problems. In this way, the poor continue to get poorer. Also, these uneducated people don't have the vocabulary and knowledge to effectively display to their government their dire situation. What UNESCO plans to do should help this problem along.
