The World Is Flat

Here is an incredibly thought provoking presentation by acclaimed author Thomas Friedman (pulitzer prize author and columnist for the NY Times) explaining his important book, The World Is Flat to an audience at MIT. The entire video is pretty long (a little over an hour) and of course I do not expect you to watch the entire thing. Friedman starts talking at minute 3 and it would be great if you could watch 15 - 20 minutes and contemplate his views about globalization and make connections to our class.

What key themes does he mention? What are his views about the role science and technology play in accelerating the integrative process of globalization? What implications does this have for core, semi-periphery and periphery countries? What questions would you ask him if given the opportunity?

Enjoy the video and please feel free to post relevant thoughts, questions, insights, etc.
